Ingredients:
4 bone-in pork chops (boneless works too, but bone-in adds extra flavor)
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 medium cooking apples (such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
¼ cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Garlic powder, to taste
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions:
Season the Pork Chops:
Sprinkle both sides of the pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
Layer in the Crock Pot:
Place the pork chops in the bottom of your slow cooker. Top with sliced apples and onions.
Add the Flavor:
Pour the applesauce evenly over the top. Then sprinkle on the brown sugar, cinnamon, a little extra salt and pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
Cook:
Cover and cook on HIGH for about 4 hours or LOW for 6–8 hours, until the pork chops are tender and fully cooked through.
Serve:
Serve the pork chops topped with the apple-onion mixture. They’re delicious over rice, mashed potatoes, or even with roasted vegetables.
