Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey
Olive oil
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
¼ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
Salt and pepper, to taste
Hamburger buns
Instructions:
Heat a small amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain any excess liquid if needed.
Add the onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the vegetables are tender.
Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and season with salt and pepper.
Simmer until the mixture thickens to your preferred consistency longer for a less “sloppy” filling.
Spoon the turkey mixture onto hamburger buns and serve warm.
Enjoy this lighter twist on a classic sloppy Joe!
