Ingredients:
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup diced yellow onion
10 ounces shredded green cabbage
Salt, to taste
2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
1 (20-ounce) bag frozen hash browns (no need to thaw)
1½ cups shredded Irish cheddar (white cheddar works great), plus extra for topping if desired
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it becomes frothy.
Add the diced onion and sauté until fragrant and translucent.
Stir in the shredded cabbage, season with salt, and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned in spots.
Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute more. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Mix in the frozen hash browns and shredded cheddar, stirring until everything is evenly combined. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Transfer to a baking dish if your skillet isn’t oven-safe.
Bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Optional: Sprinkle on a bit more cheese and bake an additional 4–5 minutes.
Serve warm, sliced into wedges.
Enjoy this cozy, flavorful Irish-inspired dish!
