Ingredients:
-
1 box yellow cake mix
-
¾ cup dark apple cider (not apple juice)
-
½ cup sweetened applesauce
-
3 large eggs
-
2 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for brushing)
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Topping:
-
½ cup sugar
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon (or more, to taste)
-
Optional: pinch of nutmeg
Instructions:
1. Preheat
Set oven to 350°F. Grease a bundt pan.
2. Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, apple cider, applesauce, eggs, 2 tablespoons melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
3. Bake
Pour the batter into the bundt pan and bake for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
4. Cool
Remove from the oven and let the cake rest in the pan for 15 minutes. Carefully invert onto a cooling rack or parchment paper.
5. Prepare the Topping
In a small bowl, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
6. Coat the Cake
Brush the warm cake with melted butter, then sprinkle or roll the cake in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
7. Serve
Allow to cool slightly, then slice and enjoy. Perfect for fall gatherings or as a cozy treat with coffee!
